The Riviera has a flattering modern fit and borrows luxe details from gentleman’s tailoring, including a tab button closure, coin pocket, and adjustable side tabs. For those more focused on swimming than style, it also has a fine mesh lining, drainage eyelets, and vented hem to keep you comfortable — in or out of the water. The eye-catching shell pattern is based on a print from an 1845 book by Captain Thomas Brown, titled Illustrations of the Land and Fresh Water Conchology of Great Britain and Ireland. This piece is part of a limited-edition capsule collection created by Todd Snyder and artist John Derian. The seaside-themed summer styles are all based on rare 18th- and 19th-century prints from Derian’s archive. “When John and I got together to design our second collection, [he] was talking about his store in Provincetown, MA,” says Snyder. “This Derian-at-the beach direction really appealed to me, and so we started looking at antique prints of harbor scenes and marine life.”
